If you want to Turn Arizona
Blue, Join Act Arizona.
The primary goal of
Act Arizona
is to replace Republican legislators with Democrat legislators. Gaining a majority of Arizona legislators in the House and Senate will bring a halt to devastation of Arizona programs for poor and moderate income Arizonans.
The influx of mid-west retirees to Arizona is responsible for the lack of support for Arizona programs and services especially health care and education from K-12 to colleges and universities essential to Arizona's poor and moderate income persons that provide for an educated work force to attract businesses to locate to Arizona.
Cutting Arizona's education funding is similar to "cutting off one's nose to spite their face," an expression used to describe a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a perceived conjured problem based on erroneous assumptions and consequently of no validity.
"Sun City" retirees with their selfish mindset to not pay taxes for programs and services they do not use is the root cause of the cuts in programs and services for poor and moderate income Arizonans.
Arizona "Sun City" seniors have become the ugly 500 pound gorilla in Arizona politics. Sun City and other Maricopa County retirement communities are the support base for Joe Arpaio. Arizona seniors from Sun City and others with the "Sun City" mindset believe Arpaio is doing a great job eliminating anyone in Arizona with a brown face deporting Hispanics back to Mexico along with their children who are seen by "Sun City" seniors as a tax liability on Arizona schools. On November 5, 2009, the University of Michigan published a report disputing undocumented Hispanics are a drain on America:
Legalization of Mexican Immigrants Substantially Improves Status of U.S. Economy.
The selfish mindset of "Sun City" seniors does not take into consideration it is poor and moderate income Arizonans who presently contribute to Social Security taxes that directly subsidize Social Security benefits "Sun City" retirees are now receiving. And of utmost concern is the minimal health care provided by Medicare including Medicare prescription drugs that must be purchased at retail prices instead of "bulk" prices by Medicare.
In 2003, It was Republican Senator Kyl of Arizona as one of 6 U.S. senators in the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Conference Committee who succeeded in changing the proposed House/Senate Conference Report to mandate Medicare pay retail prices for prescription drugs instead of "bulk" prices like the U.S. Veterans Administration (How the 2003 Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Became Law). Directly supporting Kyl was AARP (AARP Makes Millions from Royalties on Health Plans) lobbying the House/Senate Conference Committee to require Medicare purchase prescription drugs at retail prices instead of "bulk" prices.
This is like letting the fox into the chicken coop and the worst part this story is Kyl and AARP who receives substantial income from the drug companies are still there with their hands out to the drug and insurance companies and in turn are strong advocates for keeping health care essentially the same as it always has been with health insurance companies taking 35% of every health care dollar spent in the USA as their profit (See the Republican Plan for Health Care released this week in Washington).
Act Arizona is Considering Long Term Care Benefits
There is one other major deficiency in Medicare: The lack of Long Term Care benefits. Most American seniors in need of Long Term Care must eliminate all personal assets to obtain minimum assistance that covers only a small portion at best of Long Term Care.
Act Arizona will move forward with the 2010 Act Arizona Casino Initiative
and when approved by the Arizona Electorate, Act Arizona
will administer health care to all Arizonans by buying health care services from existing or new Arizona health care providers.
The 2010 Act Arizona Casino Initiative
is a state wide initiative that will allow Act Arizona
to build casinos in Arizona. Presently, casino gambling is permitted only within Indian reservations. The Act Arizona
casinos will not replace Indian casinos but will be built in addition to ― but off reservations. All Act Arizona
casino profits will be used to pay for health insurance and prescription drugs for all Arizona residents. This will include all prescription drugs for seniors including donut fees.
